Roamly eSIM plans are data-only. They do not include traditional phone calls or SMS text messages.

How to make calls and send messages

Since you have data, you can use internet-based apps for calling and messaging:
  • WhatsApp — Calls, video calls, and messages
  • FaceTime — Audio and video calls (Apple devices)
  • Zoom / Google Meet — Video calls
  • Facebook Messenger — Calls and messages
  • Telegram / Signal — Messaging and calls
These apps work over data and are free to use.

What about my regular number?

Your regular SIM card stays active. People can still call and text your normal number. Just be aware that receiving calls on your regular SIM while abroad may incur roaming charges from your home carrier. To avoid this, you can:
  • Let calls go to voicemail and call back over WiFi or data using an app
  • Turn off your regular SIM’s cellular connection entirely and rely on Roamly for all data

Need to make regular phone calls?

If you need to make traditional phone calls (e.g. to local restaurants or hotels), consider using apps like Skype or Google Voice which allow calls to regular phone numbers for a small fee.
